How Your Congressional Member Can Help
In the Appropriations process, House and Senate Appropriations Committee staff will look for respective member requests when developing their budgets. The best way to ensure level funding for the MEP program in FY18 is to have as many Representatives and Senators submit individual programmatic requests as possible.
Have Your Representative Sign the Dear Colleague Letter
Call and email your local Representatives and their staff requesting the Congressman sign onto the Dear Colleague Letter, being circulated by Congressmen Kelly (R-PA) and McGovern (D-MA) and Congresswoman Murphy (D-FL), and request $142.4 million for the MEP program in the FY18 CJS Appropriations bill. The letter will be sent to House CJS Appropriations Subcommittee Chairman John Culberson (R-TX) and Ranking Member Jose Serrano (D-NY).
Have Your Senator Sign the Dear Colleague Letter
Call and email your local Senators and their staff requesting the Senator sign onto the Dear Colleague Letter (DCL) being circulated by Senator Brown (D-OH) which requests $142.4 million for the MEP program in the FY18 CJS Appropriations bill. The letter will be sent to Senate CJS Appropriations Subcommittee Chairman Richard Shelby (R-AL) and Ranking Member Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH).

NAM Council of Manufacturing Associations Support for MEP
Prior to the release of the Administration’s budget, NAM’s Council of Manufacturing Associations sent the President a letter of support for the MEP program which was signed by 38 of its member organizations. The letter requests, “As you develop your FY18 budget with a focus on revitalizing the nation’s manufacturing industry, we urge you to support continued funding for the MEP.” Click here to read the letter.
